St. Lucia, November 2007

MLS_0186a112607.jpgSaint Lucia begs the question, “Should gluttony and sloth be considered deadly sins or life goals?” This independent democracy in the eastern Caribbean lives up to the upgrade me for free travel staff’s ideal of a Caribbean paradise. Beautiful beaches, tropical rain forests, turquoise waters with vibrant reef systems all combine to make this an activity filled getaway. Top-notch resorts give a peaceful respite from it all while watching the sun set over the awe inspiring Pitons. While sporting many all inclusive resorts, Saint Lucia manages to avoid feeling overdeveloped. Away from the resorts you will find valleys of banana and coconut plantations topped by rich, mountainous jungles.

Soufriere on the Southwest coast is framed by the majestic Pitons. The Gros Piton and Petit Piton rise directly from the coral reef beds and have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
